As an employee at Entech for 20 years, Kathy Mora is a fundamental part of our Grand Blanc office. Spend five minutes with her and you will see why she’s had such a successful career. She leads with empathy, but she is also tenacious in her pursuit to fit employees into a  role that best compliments their skills. We had the chance to sit down with her and see how she became the marvelous Office Supervisor that she is:

Q: Tell me about your history at Entech.

A: I have been working here for 20 years. Mostly recruiting for Light Industrial work, but lately I have been doing more with Medical. I had a recruiting business at home before coming to Entech as well. I worked with a lot of strong women, and I myself am a very independent woman, so that’s why I like it here. When I had my own company, I was able to find a job for anyone, including single moms who needed a flexible schedule—that was really gratifying. Entech has the same priorities. I was in Collections before this, and that wasn’t something I was passionate about. It’s in my nature to help others and I’m able to do that at Entech.

Q: So you have been with Entech since back when Janet owned the business. What do you think she would say about how it has grown and changed?

A: Oh she would be so proud of Amy and Kathy. I remember the day Amy and Kathy walked in with a bottle of champagne saying they were the new owners of Entech. They had all these big ideas.  But at its core, Entech has stayed the same. Janet was huge on empowering women in the workplace, and that is still at the core of who we are today.

Q: Tell me a bit about your life outside of the office. What do you like to do for fun? What’s your family like?

I have quite a bit of things I enjoy, for starters I love to paint. I’ve recently been making art with sea glass as well, which has been quite fun. I’m a huge reader—I used to be more into  romance novels, but now my book club and I have gotten into mysteries—we will read straight through a series.

As for family, I have 7 siblings, so a big family! I have one son, who lives in Oregon now with my grandkids. It is extremely hard having them so far, especially with Covid. We haven’t been able to see them, but we want to soon. Thank God for Skype.

My husband and I went to school together and have known each other since we were in the 1st grade. But we didn’t date until way later in life. Many years down the road my friend dragged me to this baseball party. I looked around and I saw him, and I’m like, “I know that guy, but I can’t place it.” Then I realized it was from back in the day at school. His friends were telling me he was a player, so we thought we would mess with him a bit. I tapped him on the shoulder, and I knew he would recognize me but not remember from where. So I said, “Why are you acting like you don’t know me? It’s only been two weeks. You said you’d call me!” He turned beat red,  assuming we dated and he can’t remember when or where. We still tease him about that to this day .

After that reintroduction, he wanted to take me on a date, but I kept saying no. Until one day I came home and my entire lawn had been completely manicured. I had a big lawn, three acres, and it looked like a golf course. There was a note on the door that just said “Lawn boy was here.” So I went out with him after that and we’ve been together ever since. He’s Italian and I have red hair, so everyone calls us Ricky and Lucy.

Thank You, Kathy!

Well Kathy, we enjoy a good love story, and can see why Ricky loves Lucy! Thanks for sharing your story with us, and for all the wonderful years you have shared with us at Entech! We look forward to many more!
